A semi-tractor cab caught fire along I-40 between Sallisaw and Muldrow Saturday evening, causing traffic to slow almost to a stop.
The Muldrow Fire Department, along with Oklahoma Highway Patrol and other agencies responded to the fire.
Jesse Chandler with the Muldrow Fire Department said the semi driver had already unhooked the cab from the trailer and they about 50 yards apart when the dept. arrived; the cab was fully engulfed.
It is unknown how the fire started; EMS was on scene, but the driver did not appear to be injured, according to Chandler.
“We put what was left of the fire out and left early,” said Chandler, adding that the department was called to another fire where 20 hay bales were burning south of Muldrow off Treat Road.
