Tracy Byrd has helped shaped the sound of country music for more than two decades. On Aug. 24, Byrd brings fan favorites to the Lee Creek Tavern stage inside Cherokee Casino and Hotel Roland for a free show.
Byrd takes the stage at 8 p.m. Local country favorite Morgan Squared Band is set to close out the show.
The musician smashed into the music scene when he signed with MCA Records in 1993 with his hit “Holdin’ Heaven,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks.
The artist has since charted more than 30 hit singles, neatly packaged into 10 studio albums. Among his fan favorites are the Top 10 singles “Lifestyles of the Not So Rich and Famous,” “Watermelon Crawl,” “The Keeper of the Stars,” “The First Step,” “Big Love,” “Don’t Take Her She’s All I Got,” and other hits, including “That’s the Thing About a Memory,” “4 to 1 in Atlanta” and “Put Your Hand in Mine.”
Byrd’s 1995 No. 2 hit “Keeper of the Stars” earned Song of the Year by the Country Music Association that same year.
Of his 10 records and six compilation albums, the singer-songwriter has earned RIAA gold status for his 1993 debut, self-titled album, 1995’s “Love Lessons,” 1996’s “Big Love” and his 1999 compilation release, “Keepers: Greatest Hits.” His 1995 album, “No Ordinary Man,” featuring four Top 5 hits, earned Byrd double-platinum RIAA status.
His most recent 2016 release, “All American Texan,” was recorded in Texas and contains seven songs written solely by Byrd.
