Denver Man Faces Multiple Charges


A Denver man faces multiple charges in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw after his arrest on Interstate 40 on Aug. 2 by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) trooper.

Willie C. Richardson, 37, was charged Aug. 7 for unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, child neglect and a misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the OHP trooper’s report filed with the charges, Richardson was stopped close to the 312 mile marker on I-40 at about midnight on Aug. 2 for following too closely, failure to dim fog lights and failure to signal lane change. During the interview the trooper noticed the aroma of marijuana coming from the SUV, and Richardson admitted there was marijuana in the vehicle.

The trooper reported finding nine vacuum-sealed bag of marijuana, more than three pounds of substances containing THC, scales and a .45-caliberpistol.

The female passenger and two small children in the vehicle were released.

Richardson was released Aug. 8 on a $20,000 bond.
