A Fort Smith man was charged on Wednesday with second-degree burglary in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw, after he allegedly stole items from an auto sales business in Roland.
A warrant was issued Wednesday for Houston Sparkman, 24, of Fort Smith. Sparkman is being held in the Crawford County Detention Center in Van Buren where he was arrested on July 1 after a short chase, and it was found he was driving a 1989 white Ford pickup truck stolen on June 22 in Fort Smith. Sequoyah County sheriff’s deputies reported finding the items stolen from Wholesale Motors in Roland in the bed of the truck Sparkman was driving.
The tires, wheels and tools were reported stolen on July 1 from Wholesale motors. Damage to two vehicles was also reported. Damages and loss were estimated at $2,500.
