California Man, Woman Face Drug Charges

A man and woman from California face drug charges in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw, after their arrest on Interstate 40 at 5 a.m. Aug. 3.

Jonathan Krishna Fenton, 43, and Lynette Fenton, 51, of Valley Center, Calif., were arrested by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper who recorded the Fentons driving at about 75 miles per hour going east at mile marker 306.

In his report the trooper reported that during the traffic stop he saw a large jar of suspected marijuana on the floorboard on the passenger’s side in the Fenton’s GMC SUV. A search of the vehicle uncovered several packages of marijuana that weighed over five pounds.

The Fentons were both charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Both entered not guilty pleas to the charges, and both were released on bonds of $8,500 each.
