Sallisaw Police Asking for Information in Mini-Storage Burglaries

The Sallisaw Police Department is asking for the public’s help with a case involving recent burglaries at Black Diamond Mini Storage.

Detective Blake Brunk said a suspect gained entry by cutting holes in the metal roof, then cutting a hole in the wood wall to gain entry into adjacent units.

“They would go in and cut holes in the wood … and get into another storage building,” Brunk said. “Then they would cut more holes and get out through the roof.”

Detective Lance Yoakum said at least 28 units at Black Diamond Mini Storage on J.T. Stites Boulevard were burglarized, with more calls still coming in from victims who are just now discovering that their storage unit was burglarized.

“A tenant noticed their unit was broken into,” Yoakum said of how they became aware of the burglaries. “We’re continuing to receive calls. There may be more victims out there.”

The incident occurred sometime between last Thursday night, Aug. 2, through the morning of Saturday, Aug. 4. Detectives say the investigation is still active and ongoing, and are asking the public to let them know if they saw anything out of the ordinary or anyone specifically on the roof at Black Diamond Mini Storage during that period of time last week.

Brunk said if anyone was driving by and saw anything or anyone who appeared suspicious, to please let them know by calling 918-775-4141.
