A 29-year-old man, who described himself as homeless, was charged July 25 in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw, with being a sex offender living within 2,000 feet of a school and failing to comply with sex offender registration.
Edward Allen Lagrange was arrested July 20 by Sallisaw police after reporting to a Department of Corrections officer that he was homeless. It was later found that Lagrange was staying at a home within 1,000 feet of the Boys and Girls Club in Sallisaw.
The crimes are punishable by up to five years in prison and fines of $3,000 to $5,000.
