School Supply Drive Underway by Firstar Bank

Moolah, the Cash Cow, above, and Firstar Bank in Sallisaw are collecting school supplies for Sallisaw’s elementary students.

Michelle Mings, Firstar Bank Sallisaw vice president of marketing, said all those donating to the school supply drive will receive a Moolah, the Cash Cow, backpack key ring.

Donations of all supplies and cash to buy supplies are appreciated, Mings said. Supplies needed include scissors, pencils, crayons, glue, paper, hand sanitizers, tissues, etc. Supply donations may be made at either bank in Sallisaw, at Clif’s Pharmacy, Perry’s Office Supply, the Sequoyah County Courthouse, or the Sequoyah County Times.

Cash donations may be made to any teller at the Firstar Bank on Cherokee Street or the Firstar Bank on Kerr Boulevard.

Mings explained donations will be taken through July, then donated to the teachers at Liberty Elementary and Eastside Elementary Schools in Sallisaw during the first week of school so teachers may sort and distribute the supplies. Teachers report for the new Sallisaw School year on Aug. 8 and students begin classes on Aug. 11.

“I love doing this,” Mings said. “There is certainly a need for these supplies. We collect a ton of items. Usually we collect over 2,000.”

This is the 15th year Firstar Bank has conducted the School Supply Drive. Firstar Banks in Roland, Fort Smith, Muskogee and Tulsa are also collecting school supplies for schools in their towns.
