A 40-year-old New Hampshire man was charged July 6 in Muskogee County Court with drug and money charges after his arrest by Webbers Falls police.
Casey Hamilton of Francetown, N.H., faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled, dangerous substance with intent to distribute, and acquired proceeds from drug activity, both felonies, and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to court records, Hamilton was stopped on Interstate 40 by Webbers Falls Assistant Police Chief William Hutchinson for a cracked driver’s side windshield. In his report Hutchinson said he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from Hamilton’s vehicle. A search of the vehicle uncovered about 87 grams of green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana and $63,402.12.
Hamilton told police the money was his life savings which he was using to attend the Motorcycle Mechanical Institute in Phoenix, Ariz.
Hamilton is free on a $10,000 bond. His next court appearance is set for July 19 on a sounding docket.
