Are you a woman who loves the outdoors? If so, there is an event tailor-made for girls and women ages 14 and older called Women in the Outdoors being held Nov. 5-8 at Tenkiller State Park in Vian.
Women in the Outdoors is a program that allows participants to gain hands-on learning opportunities among other women. The event offers a non-threatening environment so participants can enjoy their time to the fullest.
Women can choose from 25 activities, or up to four sessions. Some of the activities include gun hunting and safety, native arts, kayaking and a mentored deer hunt. In addition, there will be a banquet with silent and live auctions.
Registration has been open since the first week of September and there are still openings left. The class is limited to 200 participants and the deadline to register is Oct. 20.
Proceeds will go to conservation efforts by the National Wild Turkey Foundation. If you sign up before Oct. 6, you can get a commemorative T-shirt.
