It’s time once again for the Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative’s annual meeting, and members will notice that this year’s event will be a bit different because of coronavirus concerns.
The 72nd annual meeting will be Saturday, Oct. 3, in the parking lot of Stigler High School, north of the football field. The address is 1235 NW 7th St. in Stigler. The drive-through meeting will begin with registration at 9 a.m., followed by the meeting itself. Registration ends at 11 a.m., as does the drive-through meeting.
For years, the annual meeting was a place where people gathered to reminisce, socialize and enjoy refreshments, but this year with COVID-19 cases still on the rise, organizers decided to go to a drive-through format to ensure the safety of its members and employees.
Members are asked to arrive at the designated entry, where they will be directed by a Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative (CHEC) employee to the registration area. CHEC employees will complete members’ registrations at their vehicles and provide instructions on proceeding through the drive-through area.
Members will remain in their vehicles and proceed through a designated line that continues through the parking area to the designated exit.
Please note that wait times may be significant. If you or the passengers in your vehicle have medical conditions or find it difficult to spend an extended amount of time in a vehicle, please make preparations accordingly. Restroom facilities will not be available at the meeting site.
Customers will soon be receiving a letter in the mail from CHEC regarding the meeting, and they are asked to bring that letter with them to the event to serve as registration and prize drawings. Each membership that presents this letter at registration will receive a $20 credit on their electric bill. One $20 credit will be given per membership and the member must be present at registration to receive the credit and complimentary gift bag (while supplies last).
The back of the letter to members features a map of the meeting area, or you may visit www.cooksonhills.com for a map and further information.
Children between ages 2-16 who attend will receive a ticket for a chance to win a free prize. The prize drawings for members and children will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, on Facebook Live.
