Search and rescue teams worked Saturday and Sunday
to locate the body of the drowning victim.
Rescue workers have recovered the body of a 46-year-old Wister man from the Arkansas River near the Kerr Lock and Dam.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), Son T. Nguyen was fishing near Kerr Dam on Saturday, Aug. 1 when he fell into the water while attempting to cast a net off the south side retaining wall. Witnesses reported seeing Nguyen fall in and struggle before going under and failing to resurface.
Search and rescue teams have been working since Saturday and finally recovered Nguyen's body in 13 feet of water approximately 30 yards north of the south bank.
The OHP report stated that the victim was not wearing a personal flotation device.
