Sequoyah County marked its sixth death from the coronavirus, the county’s emergency management director, Steve Rutherford, said Monday.
Rutherford, speaking at the weekly meeting of the Sequoyah County Board of Commissioners, noted that there are currently 509 cases in the county. 379 of that total have recovered and 110 are considered active.
During the meeting, the commissioners approved several transfers of appropriations for the Sheriff’s Office, including one from the Jail Sales Tax Maintenance and Operations Fund to the Jail Sales Tax Lease purchase account. They also approved the transfer of funds from the Drug Court Maintenance and Operations account to the Drug Court Personal Service account. A transfer of money was approved from the Mental Health Court Maintenance and Operations account to Mental Health Personal Service for the Sequoyah County Mental Health Court, and the commissioners OK’d the transfer of appropriations from the Sheriff Service Fee for Maintenance and Operations to the DEQ Grant Personal Service account.
