A Vian woman was charged Sept. 24 for allegedly bringing oxycodone into the Roland City Jail.
In addition to the felony contraband charge, Kristen Nicole Lagow, 36, was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication, all misdemeanors.
A Roland Police Department officer arrested Lagow Sept. 24 at the Dollar General store in Roland. Upon her arrival at the Roland jail, a search revealed the woman had hidden 23 oxycodone hydrochloride pills in a small, zippered plastic bag labeled “STAR WARS” inside her.
Records show Lagow had been charged with at least three felony offenses in Oklahoma in the past 10 years and has an active felony warrant from Sequoyah County.
The general manager at the Dollar General called the RPD saying a woman that appeared to be under the influence of something had tried to force her way into the store and threatened to break the glass. She also threatened to break a window out of her own vehicle.
When officers responded to the call, they saw Lagow standing near a dark blue, four-door vehicle that had a broken window on the driver’s side. Officers saw that Lagow had broken skin and cuts on her right arm.
During a search inside the vehicle, officers found an empty bottle of methadone in the center console and a large blue-and-orange prescription pill bottle in the door pocket on the driver’s side. On the ground near where Lagow was standing, officers also discovered an orange syringe cap.
Lagow admitted to banging on the store’s door, saying she had lost the keys to her car. Her demeanor led police to suspect she was under the influence of an intoxicant. She was sweaty, moved rapidly and was unable to stay in one place. Speaking slowly, the agitated woman denied using any illegal drugs, telling officers she became addicted to “roxy” because of her boyfriend and that she had started taking methadone to help fight that addiction.
A Dollar General employee told officers Lagow had been in the store’s restroom and a subsequent search there turned up a used syringe inside the facility’s trash can.
When an officer asked to search Lagow’s car, she said another woman had been inside the vehicle and may have left something illegal in it.
During the search, officers found additional drug evidence, including a used syringe. The methadone bottle previously discovered was in Lagow’s name, but the large pill bottle had been prescribed for someone else. That bottle contained the medication Gabapentin, which is not a scheduled or controlled substance.
Officers performed a series of sobriety tests on Lagow, which she failed.
While Lagow was being transported to the Roland City Jail, officers learned that the other woman Lagow was with previously had been spotted at the Quick Stop location nearby. The woman, Natalie Nicole Shell, had an outstanding felony warrant and was subsequently arrested.
Lagow was charged with felony possession of a controlled dangerous substance in May 2014 and again in June 2014, when she was also charged with felony receiving/possession/concealing stolen property.
Lagow entered a plea of not guilty to the current charges. Her next court appearance is at 9 a.m. Nov. 13.
