Sallisaw Man Charged with Harboring Fugitive

A Sept. 26 attempt by Sequoyah County Sheriff’s deputies to serve a warrant led them to arrest a Sallisaw man for harboring a fugitive.

Jeffery Todd Gentry, 52, was charged with harboring a fugitive from justice, a felony.

According to a report, deputies went to Ram Trailer Park to serve a warrant on Johnathan Anderson for the unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a child under the age of 12. They encountered Gentry when he answered their knock at the door.

Gentry reportedly told deputies that Anderson had previously been at the home but had since left. However, the home’s back door was open and when one deputy looked out that door he saw that his partner had nabbed Anderson allegedly trying to flee the scene.

Anderson and Gentry were subsequently arrested and transported to the Sequoyah County Jail.

Gentry was released on $3,000 bond and his most recent court appearance was Oct. 2.

The fugitive harboring charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
