Oklahoma City Man Faces Burglary, Assault Charges

A 35-year-old Oklahoma City man is being held in the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw on a $10,000 bond after being charged with first-degree burglary and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Jedidiah Jermaine Kursh is accused of breaking into the home of his ex-girlfriend on West Hastings Street in Sallisaw and hitting her on the head with a baseball bat.

Kursh was seen leaving the residence and his vehicle and direction of travel were reported to police. A Sallisaw officer stopped him on Cherokee Street and placed him under arrest.

The victim told police she was in bed and “the next thing she knew was she heard her door being beat and kicked.” The alleged assault occurred at about 3 a.m. Nov. 23. The victim said she saw a man coming through the door and she saw it was her ex-boyfriend with a ball bat. The victim said that Kursh hit her in the head then left “to go calm down” before coming back.

The officer reported the victim had a gash in her head and blood in her hair.

The officer also reported that Kursh told police he is on federal probation and is a three-time convicted felon.
