Chamber Holds Christmas Lunch; Moves Christmas Parade to 2 p.m. Saturday

Fourth-grade students from Eastside Elementary School, above, entertained members of the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce at their annual Christmas lunch Wednesday. The lunch was held at First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw.

Chamber President Darren Girdner, fourth from left, presented the Chamber Member of the Month Award, above, to the owners and staff at SCA, LLC, a real estate closing company. Girdner noted SCA Title was established in April 2012 by Daniel and Alia Walker and their business partner, Dr. Steve Smith. Smith, an orthopedic surgeon at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, and Alia Walker, a physician’s assistant for Mercy Clinic in Sallisaw, grew up in Vian and Daniel Walker grew up in Roland. Daniel Walker manages the day-to-day operations of SCA Title which employs six people whose combined experience is over 40 years.

Girdner, during the meeting, noted that the Shop Sallisaw Campaign, which encourages shoppers to buy locally, may be the largest ever with over 32,000 tickets handed out to shoppers. Those ticket holders have a chance to win hundreds of dollars at the drawing at noon Saturday in downtown Sallisaw.

Later the chamber changed the time of the annual Christmas parade from 6 p.m. Saturday to 2 p.m. Saturday due to the stormy weather forecast.

For more information on the parade or any chamber holiday happenings call the chamber at 918-775-2558.
