Barricade Dodger Issued Ticket

A man who drove around barricades to cross a flooded road in the Poteau area, then had to be rescued when his truck stalled on Monday, was issued a ticket, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

The Pocola Fire Department’s swift water rescue team helped save the man whose truck flooded on Old State Highway 112 at James Fork Creek. The road was closed due to flooding.

In Sequoyah County, Sheriff Ron Lockhart said several swift water rescues have been successful, including three on Sunday alone, due to flooding caused by record-breaking rainfall.
