Muldrow Man Faces Drug Charges

A 29-year-old Muldrow man was charged Thursday in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw with a felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Edward R. Saldana II was arrested by Sallisaw police on Aug. 20 during a traffic stop at Maple and Argyle Streets. Saldana was a passenger in the vehicle.

The arresting officer reported Saldana appeared to be hiding something under the vehicle’s seat while the officer was questioning the driver outside the vehicle. The officer asked Saldana to get out of the vehicle so the officer could check under the seat to be sure there were no weapons there. Saldana refused, according to the officer’s report.

A second police officer arrived to assist and Saldana again refused to get out of the vehicle. The second officer then pointed a Taser at Saldana, who then got out of the passenger’s seat. The arresting officer found under the seat a plastic bag with a metal container, a scale, a glass smoking device and two plastic bags that contained a crystal-like substance.

Saldana was arrested and transported to the Sallisaw jail without further incident. He has a $10,000 bond.
