Fundraising Underway for Old SHS Park

The Old Sallisaw High School Park and rotunda are all decked out for Christmas and hoping for some gifts from Santa Claus.

Members of the Old Sallisaw High School Association have set up a thermometer to track donations that will be used to dress up the property at the Old Sallisaw High School Park. It is estimated it will take about $50,000 to repair and equip the property.

The fundraising campaign is already underway. Inscribed bricks are being sold for the park and cost between $25 and $100, depending on the size of the brick and the inscription. The bricks may be ordered on line on the Old Sallisaw High School Park Facebook page. Donors may also purchase bricks by emailing Laura Barnes at pebbles@diamondnet.us or Rhonda James at rhondajames@ok.dhs.org, and asking for a form. The form should then be completed with the desired lettering and brick size and returned. Forms may also be requested by sending a request to the Old Sallisaw High School Association at P.O. Box 1698, Sallisaw, Okla. 74955.

The first deadline for brick orders is Dec. 15. Additional orders will follow if sufficient orders are received.

Barnes said the association will hold a planning meeting in January to discuss more fundraising plans and what park repair projects will be undertaken in the spring.
