Organizers Seek to Restart DU Chapter

Plans are in the works to reorganize, expand and rename Sallisaw’s Ducks Unlimited chapter, organizer Tyler Knoke said.

A meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 11, in the meeting room at Ruger’s Grill, 118 E. Cherokee in Sallisaw, to discuss the reorganization, Knoke said.

The new chapter will be christened the Sequoyah County Oklahoma Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.

The mission of DU is to conserve, restore and manage wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl. Those habitats also benefit other wildlife and people.

As of Jan. 1, 2020, Ducks Unlimited Inc. had 634,847 adult members and 42,893 youth members.

Knoke said anyone interested in restarting the local DU chapter is welcome to attend Thursday’s meeting.
