Dr. Eric A. Amberson
Northeastern Health System-Sequoyah’s new clinic at 511 E. Redwood in Sallisaw is set to open Thursday, April 1, hospital Administrator Stephanie Six said.
Heading up the clinic will be Dr. Eric A. Amberson, who earned his Doctor of Medicine at St. Georges University School of Medicine in 2004. He completed his internship in general surgery in 2005 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, S.C.
Amberson completed residencies in anesthesiology at several hospitals in the Boston area and at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (AHEC) in Fort Smith, Ark.
He is currently medical director at Hometown Home Health, Dagenais Medical Clinic and Acadia Medical Clinic, all in Pawhuska, and he also works at hospitals in Beaver, McAlester, Perry and Guymon.
Amberson is also involved in the business world. He has served as chief executive officer of Tesla Energy Solutions LLC and Premiere Realty & Investments since 2007.
Charlotte Barrett, a longtime employee at NHS-Sequoyah, will be the clinic’s nurse-practitioner. An advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), Barrett began her nursing career at St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith in 2000. In 2001 she went to work as the school nurse at Stilwell. She stayed there for six years before coming to what was then known as Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in May 2007. She has been with NHS-Sequoyah since December 2017.
She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Association of Oklahoma Nurse Practitioners.
The clinic is at the former location of Dr. Rick Robbins’ office.
