Chamber Holds December Meeting

Members of the Sallisaw Middle School Choir entertained
chamber members with songs full of holiday cheer.

The First United Methodist Church provided a holiday backdrop for the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce’s December membership meeting Wednesday. Cazodores provided lunch for those attending.

Chamber President Marley Abell discussed plans for Saturday's Christmas parade and concert. The Sallisaw Christmas parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. with line-up starting at 6 p.m. Abell noted that these times are 30 minutes later than in previous years. The change in the times were made to allow parade watchers and participants to be able to make it to other county parades and then travel back to Sallisaw, according to Abell.

A Live Christmas Concert will be held in the Pocket Park located on Cherokee Ave. immediately following the parade. The concert will be performed by students and instructors of Studio 3:16. The concert is sponsored by the chamber, Sallisaw Main Street and Studio 3:16.

The Mix 105.1 was honored as the Chamber Member of the Month. Accepting the award were  station owners, Darren and Kim Girdner, along with Justin Pettit, radio personality.

Winners of the annual Store Front Decorating contest were also announced. Taking first place was Becca's Bargains. Second place went to Oasis Coffee House. Mimosa Market placed third followed by The City of Sallisaw in fourth place and Natural Meds Farm in fifth.

Abell announced that new board members beginning January 1 include Treye Girdner, Jordan Pace, Tyler Knoke and Rhonda Nicholson. Jaime Henson will serve as next year's Chamber President.

Entertainment was provided by The Sallisaw Middle School Choir, under the direction of Thesa Loving, and members of the First Baptist Church Bell Choir.
