Truck Fire Between Roland and Muldrow Cooks Turkeys

Bad brakes caused a semi-truck carrying over 40,000 pounds of frozen turkeys to catch fire on Interstate 40 Tuesday morning.

The fire destroyed the truck and its contents. The driver was not injured.

The fire took place at about the 325 mile marker in the west bound lanes between Muldrow and Roland. The fire started around 8:00 a.m. It took fire crews approximately one hour to extinguish the main blaze. Officials worked most of the day cleaning up the fire and debris and finished in the early evening.

The driver stated that he noticed the fire and pulled to the side of the road and exited the vehicle safely.
