Phase 2 of State's Reopening Plan Begins Friday

Oklahoma is set move to Phase 2 of Governor Stitt's 'Open Up and Recover Safely' plan beginning Friday, May 15. The state has been in Phase 1 of the plan for the past 14 days.

Stitt said in a Thursday press conference that the state is in good shape to move to the new phase. The decision to move to Phase 2 was made based on Oklahoma data, Stitt stated.

Oklahoma continues to hold steady with the eighth fewest cases of COVID-19 per capita in the country the governor noted (see above chart).

Allowed to reopen and resume in Phase 2 are bars, organized sports, weddings and funerals, and church nurseries. Proper social distancing and sanitation protocols must remain in place.

Restaurants and many business lobbies have already been allowed to reopen. Although some have chosen to wait.

If hospital and incident rates remain at a manageable level for an additional 14 days, Oklahoma will move to Phase 3 of the plan laid out by Governor Stitt.
