County Schools to Provide Meals for Students During School Closure

School closures in Oklahoma because of the coronavirus have forced officials to scramble to find ways to feed their students, and Sequoyah County schools are no exception.

Sallisaw Public Schools announced that it will continue to provide breakfast and lunch to students beginning Monday, March 23.

Grab-and-go meals will be available for pickup at the west side of the Middle School cafeteria between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. No inside dining will be available. Meals will be delivered per request by calling (918) 775-5544.

Vian Public Schools stated that meals will still be provided to all students, and they will be delivered along current bus routes beginning Monday. Drivers will begin running their routes at 10 a.m. Monday through Friday. The routes are listed on the school system’s Facebook page.

Route bus riders should look for the school bus at their regular pick-up spot. All Vian students, and their younger siblings, may receive meals during this time.

Bus routes cover every area of the Vian district. If you live along an existing route, look for the bus between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. beginning Monday.

The school has also set up “pod stops” at Bubba’s, Camille’s Daycare, Lizzie Henry Park and the two-story apartments. All students who live in the city limits of Vian may pick up their food at the pod bus stop nearest their home.

In Muldrow, the school will provide grab-and-go meals beginning Monday. Meals can be picked up at Muldrow Middle School between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Children MUST BE PRESENT.

Marble City Public School is also providing grab-and-go meals for students. Breakfast and lunch will be available for pick-up from 8-8:30 a.m. at the Marble City School cafeteria. Meals are available to any currently enrolled Marble City students but each student must be present to receive a meal.

Roland Schools will be providing meals for breakfast and lunch for pick-up only at the Junior High cafeteria during the school closure. Breakfast will be available from 8-9 a.m. and lunch will be provided from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students CANNOT be dropped off.

Brushy Schools will be packing a week's worth of lunches for their students and distributing on Monday of each week. Pick-up will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. behind the cafeteria (where the buses park).

Central Public Schools will be providing a drive thru breakfast and lunch. Drive thru will be available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m to 12:30 p.m.
