Blaze Destroys Part of Webbers Falls Fire Department

A Wednesday afternoon fire destroyed part of the Webbers Falls Fire Department.

Webbers Falls Police Chief Matthew Crittenden said Thursday that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. He noted, however, that the blaze left two fire trucks and two boats in ruins and the department’s entire collection of bunker gear, scuba gear and more was a complete loss. No one was injured in the fire, he said.

On Thursday morning, fire crews had blocked off the entrance to the fire department and were seen working near the burned building.

Mayor Sandy Wright said various area fire departments responded to the scene Wednesday, including Vian, Warner, Porum, Gore and Rural Fire District 2.

Crittenden said other nearby fire departments will also be responding to any calls in Webbers Falls until the department can replace the gear lost in the blaze.
