The City of Sallisaw will host an open house Monday at the city’s new Civic Center, 103 N. Wheeler.
The open house will be from 4:30-5:45 p.m. Monday, followed by the March city commissioners' meeting at 6 p.m.
City Manager Keith Skelton said Friday that the new building has a lot to offer Sallisaw residents, including TV screens for presentations, a large kitchen and serving area, new restrooms and a large lobby.
The building on Wheeler was gutted, Skelton said, and MGS Construction did a “complete remodel” on the south end of the building. The city is planning on updating the north end of the building as funding becomes available, he noted.
Though the building is not yet open for reservations, the current plan is to charge $100 per event to use the building, Skelton said.
Skelton added that the city will continue to use the old civic center building until officials determine what to do with the property.
