Feb. 12 Sallisaw Election on City’s Agenda

Just when Sallisaw voters thought they were done with elections, here comes the Sallisaw Municipal Election.

Sallisaw City Commissioners will consider setting the day for the city’s election on Feb. 12 at the city commission meeting on Wednesday. The commission is meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday because their regular meeting day, on Monday, was a national holiday - Veterans Day - and that meeting was cancelled and reset for Wednesday.

On the agenda is the regular Sallisaw Municipal Election. The commissioners will vote to ask the Sequoyah County Election Board to schedule the election to elect commissioners for Wards 1 and 3. It is expected that the filing dates for the election will run from 8 a.m. on Dec. 3 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 5.

Ronnie Lowe is the current Ward 1 commissioner and Julian Mendiola is the current Ward 3 commissioner.

Also on the agenda, among other items, are the acceptance of a report on the 2018 city audit, approval of the 2019 meeting dates for the commission and other city commissions, and review and approval of an administration policy on employee job evaluation and salaries.
