Warrant Issued for Roland Man

An arrest warrant was issued July 13 for a Roland man charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration.

Steven Lee Cooley Jr. was charged with the felony Friday, and bond on the warrant was set at $5,000.

According to information in the affidavit filed in support of the charge, on June 29 a deputy with the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Department went to a residence in Roland where Cooley was believed to be staying. The deputy made contact with Cooley's aunt who informed him that she had not seen Cooley since on or about June 8 when he last left her residence. Cooley had contacted her by text message and threatened to kill himself a few days later. Cooley's aunt stated that she was unaware of where Cooley had been staying since that time.

Cooley faces up to five years imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $5,000 if convicted.
