Sallisaw firefighters had to extinguish a tractor fire Wednesday morning.
Fire Chief Anthony Armstrong reported there were no injuries and no losses other than the 2001 tractor.
The tractor’s owner and operator Mike Rodes told Armstrong that he was cutting hay at 1111 N. Farm Rd. on Sallisaw’s west side when he heard a big boom in the tractor’s engine, which then began to burn.
Armstrong said the fire department was dispatched at 9:36 a.m. and when they arrived the tractor was already engulfed in flames.
“We put some water on it and put it out,” Armstrong said, adding that the tractor was a total loss.
Armstrong said firefighters were back at the fire station by 10:20 a.m. He said Rodes reported the tractor was insured.
