Two File for Mayor’s Post



Two candidates have filed to run for Sallisaw’s mayor, as of 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Candidates for two elected posts in Sallisaw and for school board posts throughout Sequoyah County are filing their declarations of candidacy this week.

The Sequoyah County Election Board office in Sallisaw reports the following have filed their declarations of candidacy for the Feb. 14 elections.


In Sallisaw, two posts will be voted on. Those filing as of 4 p.m. Tuesday are:

-Mayor – Julie Ferguson, (incumbent) and George Bormann;

-Chief of Police – Terry Franklin, (incumbent).


The following have filed for school board posts as of 4 p.m. Tuesday:

- I-7 Central School District—Office No. 2 (5 years): Daman Tucker (incumbent);

- I-4 Gans School District—Office No. 2 (5 years): Jesse James (incumbent);

- C-1 Liberty School District—Office No. 3 (3 years): Terry Nichols (incumbent);

- C-35 Marble City School District—Office No. 2 (3 years): Nancy Fields (incumbent) and David Crow;

- C-68 Moffett School District—Office No. 3 (3 years): Randy Wayne Hyatt (incumbent);

- I-3 Muldrow School District—Office No. 2 (5 years): Scott Chambers (incumbent);

- I-5 Roland School District—Office No. 2 (5 years): Ronald Hemphill (incumbent);

- I-1 Sallisaw School District—Office No. 2 (5 years): Mike Daffin (incumbent);

- I-2 Vian School District—Office No. 2 (5 years): Jerry Caughman.


The filing period for both elections concludes at 5 p.m. Wednesday. We will report the full slate of candidates at the conclusion of the filing period.
