Reservations are now being taken for the annual Women in the Outdoors, scheduled for Nov. 4, 5 and 6 at the Tenkiller Baptist Assembly Campground.
Women, ages 14 and older, are invited to the annual workshop where girls and women learn outdoor skills from outstanding instructors. Designed specifically for women, the Women in the Outdoors Workshop includes topics and hands-on instruction in areas such as Dutch oven cooking, skeet shooting, lye soap making, archery, canoe and kayak, rappelling, arrow making, snake identification, natural history, introduction to the Cherokee language, and more.
This year accommodations have been secured at the camp with twin bed bunks at $40 per night, with showers and bathrooms in the bunkhouses. Campers will need to bring their own toiletries, bedding, towels and wash cloths. Reservations may also be made at the Tenkiller State Park cabins which are about a 15-minute drive from the campground where the workshops will be held.
Anyone wishing more information or to register for the event should contact Leann Bunn at 918-489-5641 or 5025, ext. 6, or email her at leann.bunn@travelok.com.
Women in the Outdoors is sponsored by the National Wild Turkey Federation.
