Donations are being sought for the Old Sallisaw High School Association yard sale planned for Sept. 24 in the parking lot behind the old school rotunda.
The yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 24, and everyone is invited to buy and sell. Spaces will be available for individuals to offer their own items for sale. Those who would like to rent a $10 space may pay at the park, and are advised they should bring their own table.
To donate to the association call 918-774-3887 or 918-774-0744, call any association member or visit the association’s Facebook page.
Association members will also be selling tickets to give away a brand new recliner on Dec. 10. Tickets are $2 each or 12 for $20. The new recliner was donated by Jodie Lee’s Furniture. Also available will be the Sallisaw High School History books by Earl Strebeck, T-shirts and tickets for the association’s grilled chicken lunch. The lunch will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Sallisaw Civic Center. The menu includes chicken, potato salad, barbecued beans, a roll and drink for $7. To pre-order lunches call 918-774-3887.
Orders will also be taken for jewelry the association members are selling for the renovation.
Proceeds from the fundraisers will be used to renovate the old high school rotunda and property as a public park. New picnic tables are currently being installed, and a mason will begin soon completing the walls flanking the rotunda. An association member said the bricks and brick color have been matched as closely as possible to the rotunda walls.
Fill dirt has also been delivered to level the property grounds, and an electrician will soon be working on upgrading electricity to the property.
Many association members are providing hands-on work for the renovation. They invite anyone interested to assist.
