Stilwell Women Face Drug Charge

A pair of Stilwell women were arrested June 5 and charged with the unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, according to police reports.

Cornelia Gail Ritter Baldridge, 31, and Breezy Lee Gann, 30, are also facing a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, Baldridge was charged with driving with a suspended license and Gann was charged with public intoxication, both misdemeanors.

On June 5, two Sequoyah County deputies were on patrol near J.T. Stites Boulevard and Highway 64 in Sallisaw when they spotted a silver Ford Expedition traveling west on 64. Both tag lights on the vehicle were inoperable, prompting the officers to initiate a traffic stop.

A check with dispatch showed that Baldridge, the driver, did not have a driver’s license and she and Gann had no warrants on file.

Baldridge told officers that there were no drugs in the vehicle and she gave consent to search it. Gann told officers she hadn’t been drinking and also gave permission to search the Ford.

During their search, the deputies discovered a green, leafy substance in a small black bag, but Gann said she had a valid medical marijuana license. The bag also contained $179 in cash. On the driver’s side next to the center console, deputies found a small black, zipped bag that contained seven small baggies holding a crystal-like substance.

The deputies then did a field-sobriety test on Gann, who admitted to smoking marijuana earlier that day. She eventually admitted that the marijuana was laced with methamphetamine.

Deputies then arrested the women and transported them to the Sequoyah County Jail.

The white, crystalline substance field-tested positive for meth.

The women face up to five years in the Department of Corrections and a fine of up to $20,000 on the felony charge.

Baldridge’s bond was set at $7,500. Her next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 12. Gann’s bond was set at $11,500.
