Randy Dalbec
An arrest warrant was issued June 9 for a Sallisaw man accused of attacking another man with a baseball bat.
Randy Dalbec, 58, was charged with felony assault and battery, which is punishable by up to 10 years in the State Penitentiary.
According to a police report, Sallisaw police officers were dispatched to the Tsa-La-Ghi Apartments in reference to a fight in progress.
When the officer got to the apartment complex, he learned that someone had left the scene in an older white Ford pickup. The officer turned around and found the truck, which he stopped at the intersection of Scott and Elm streets. The driver, Charles Crawford, had blood on his face, arms and torso. Crawford told the officer he had dropped his cousins off at the apartments and while he was leaving a resident from another apartment ordered him to leave and began striking him with the bat.
Crawford was transported to Northeastern Health System - Sequoyah for treatment.
In an interview, Dalbec said he believed Crawford was a drug dealer, even though he had never seen him before. Dalbec also said Crawford lunged at him and he struck him with the bat in self-defense, but a witness to the incident told police Dalbec started the altercation.
Dalbec’s bond was set at $10,000.
