County-wide Prom and Parade Scheduled

A parent organized parade and outdoor prom for Sequoyah County students has been scheduled for Saturday, June 20.

The event, themed “Starry Night” will be held from 7:30-11 p.m.

The night will kick off with a parade through Sallisaw and end with an outdoor prom to be held in the parking lot of the Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library.

Parade participants will load up in the Tractor Supply parking lot and the parade will end in the parking lot just east of the library, where the outdoor prom will be held.

There will be plenty of adult supervision, organizers say, which will ensure this is a safe, fun event for all students that attend.

Students from all Sequoyah County high schools are invited and the entire event is free. Organizers point out that this is not a public event. Only county high school students and their dates will be allowed to participate.

Organizer and parent Carolyn Bridges described the event as “a night of fun and unity for our high schoolers who have seen so much tragedy and abnormalities with their lives of late.”
