Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Dept. Blood Drive to Benefit Local Patient

Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) encourages area residents to donate at a blood drive benefitting Jeff Hughes, Thursday, June 6, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., on the bloodmobile at the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department at 119 South Oak in Sallisaw.

Each blood donor will receive a trendy “Summer Vibes” t-shirt and a voucher for free admission to their choice of Science Museum Oklahoma in Oklahoma City (1 entry) or Safari Joe’s H2O Water & Adventure Park in Tulsa (2 entries).

Jeff’s illness requires blood products as part of his treatment. For each blood donation, Jeff’s family will receive credit for fees associated with his blood transfusions.

Since there is no substitute for human blood, supplies must constantly be renewed. Oklahoma Blood Institute encourages anyone who is 16 and older* to donate and save a life this spring.

As a non-profit blood center, Oklahoma Blood Institute’s generous donors provide every drop of blood needed for patients in more than 160 hospitals, medical facilities, and air ambulances statewide.

Appointments are not required but can be made by going by the Sheriff Department’s offices or by calling Sherrel or Kay at 918-775-1213.

*Donor must request voucher online at yourbloodinstitute.org in order to redeem. 16-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds and provide signed parental permission; 17-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds; 18+ year olds must weigh at least 110 pounds.
