Arvest to Host Dog Days of Summer Adoption Event

July may be the Dog Days of Summer, but it’s the perfect time to find forever homes for pets who don’t have a place to call home.

Arvest Bank in Sallisaw will host the Dog Days of Summer from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, July 12, at the branch, 811 W. Ruth. Partnering with Forever Friends Humane Society and the Sallisaw Animal Care Facility, Arvest hopes its first ever pet adoption event is a huge success.

“We want the community to get involved,” said Crystal Walker, an Arvest teller who has volunteered for pet adoption and rescue organizations in the past during her time in Louisiana.

Branch Sales Manager Jessica Taylor said pet adoption is a passion for Walker, and she was open to helping in some way.

“We’ll also be accepting donations of towels, pet food, chew toys for animals,” Taylor said. “You can drop all those donations off at the bank or donate at the event.”

Taylor and Walker hope this year’s inaugural event is a huge success, and that it can become an annual event.

Dogs and cats will be available for adoption at the event; adoption fees are based on the presenting facility. The event will also feature fun for everyone, with a fire truck on display, face painting, a mobile dog spa and hot dogs and chips.

“We hope its’ a fun little event for everybody,” Taylor said.
