A Sallisaw murder suspect’s preliminary hearing scheduled for Monday was continued until August.
Nicole Marie Jordan is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of Vernon Plummer, 44, earlier this year. A preliminary hearing set for Monday was continued due to the late receipt of the autopsy report from the state medical examiner’s office, according to Marny Hill, assistant district attorney handling the case.
Jordan, 32, of Sallisaw, entered a plea of not guilty to second degree murder after she allegedly shot Plummer twice with a .380 caliber pistol on March 23 at their home, 464124 E. 1100 Road near Sallisaw.
Hill said the continuance is fairly routine, in that the defense is entitled by statute to have the report 5 to 10 days before a hearing.
“The wheels of justice are turning a little bit slowly, but they’re still turning,” Hill said.
Jordan remains in custody at the Sequoyah County jail on a $150,000 bond. Her preliminary hearing was rescheduled for 9 a.m. August 12th before Judge Matt Orendorff.
