A Tahlequah man was sentenced to 65 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for possession of an unregistered firearm. The U.S. Attorney's office in Muskogee reported Joby Tucson Northington, 34, entered a guilty plea to the charge in August. He was indicted as a result of an investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Northington was accused of owning a firearm not registered to him in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record. He will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service pending transportation to a federal facility where he will serve his sentence.
