Reported cases of flu-related hospitalizations continue to increase, the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) reports, and officials remind Oklahomans there is still time to get a flu shot. The OSDH reports a total of nine deaths and 517 hospitalizations associated with the flu since the season began in September. Two persons from Sequoyah County have been hospitalized for the flu, but no local deaths have been reported. Influenza vaccinations are available at county health departments and through medical providers. The OSDH reports more than half the hospitalizations are for patients age 65 and older. It is recommended that anyone age 6 months of age or older get the vaccinations. By Sally Maxwell, Senior News Director
