A Welling man was listed in critical condition after a head-on collision Wednesday in Cherokee County. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Randall Welch, 46, was driving a 2002 Nissan Frontier on U.S. Highway 62 east of Tahlequah when he went left of center for an unknown reason and struck a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Jack Flynn, 48, of Stilwell. Welch and Flynn were both trapped and freed by Tahlequah and Welling Fire Departments. Welch was transported by Tulsa Lifeflight to St. John Hospital in Tulsa where he was admitted in critical condition with head, trunk, internal and external and leg injuries. Flynn was transported and admitted to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. in stable condition with head, trunk, internal and external and leg injuries. Three passengers in Flynn's vehicle also needed medical attention. Kathy Gann, 42, of Stilwell was treated and released. Jimmy Ross, 44, of Stilwell was admitted to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa in stable condition with head, trunk, and leg injuries. Nellie Flynn, 68, of Stilwell was admitted to St. John Hospital in Tulsa in stable condition with head, trunk and leg injuries.
