Preliminary Hearing Dates Set

Preliminary hearing dates were set Wednesday for two persons believed involved in an ATV crash that left a Muldrow teen paralyzed. Angela Gray, 39, and Kyle Brannon, 19, will both go to preliminary hearings in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw on September 24. Gray is charged with failure to stop-accident resulting in non-fatal injury, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and selling or furnishing alcoholic beverage to a minor. She pleaded not guilty to the charges on August 20. Brannon's case is also set for September 24. He is charged as an accessory after the fact. He pleaded not guilty to the charge on August 20. Both are believed to have not called for help on September 1, 2013, when Christian Mayberry, 16 at the time, was found lying injured beside a road south of Muldrow where the ATV crash took place. Investigators accuse Gray of driving the ATV, based on witness accounts, and leaving the scene of the accident. Brannon is accused of helping clean up the scene and disposing of incriminating beer bottles. Investigators said Mayberry lay unattended for about three hours before help arrived. Mayberry continues to recuperate from the severe brain injury he suffered in a Fort Smith rehab center, but may soon be transferred to another rehab in Florida. District Judge Larry Langley is scheduled to be the judge in the preliminary hearings, a court official said Wednesday. Sally Maxwell, Senior News Director
