Sequoyah County's jobless rate rose slightly from June to July, the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission recently reported, but remains two percentage points below July 2013's number. The OESC reported unemployment in the county was at 6.9 percent in July down from 8.9 percent in July 2013. The state's unemployment for August was up slightly from July, and was at 4.7 percent. The county's unemployment rate for August was not yet available. The commission reported Sequoyah County's jobless rate is the seventh highest in the state. By Sally Maxwell, Senior News Director
