During a special meeting on Thursday, the Sallisaw City Commissioners approved a build contract for the city’s new splash pad at Jay Reynolds Park.
Creative Design Pools, a subsidiary of Burton Pools and Spas of Fort Smith, Ark., had the lowest bid of $272,044.17.
City Manager Keith Skelton said after the city opened bids Monday, March 11, three contractors submitted bids, including Creative Design Pools with the lowest bid; RJR Enterprises, with a bid of $299,322.00; and Beshears Construction, bidding $397,302.50. Skelton said architects estimated the construction cost to be $306,343.20.
After commissioners unanimously approved the build contract be awarded to Creative Design Pools, Skelton said his office will prepare the necessary contract documents and start setting up construction dates.
Skelton said he hopes youngsters are enjoying the 15 water features of the new splash pad sometime this summer.
The $300,000 project will use a $150,000 grant from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department and $150,000 from the Sallisaw Youth and Recreation Fund.
