Authorities in the Heavener and Howe area continue the search for an escaped convict from Missouri with possible ties in the area.
Travis Lee Davis, 30, escaped from the Pettis County Jail in Sedalia, Missouri late Sunday night. According to law enforcement he was being held on several charges including kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a minor, domestic assault, resisting arrest and parole violation. He was being held on a $110,000 bond.
Davis was arrested in Heavener on an unrelated charge on Wednesday but escaped from authorities before they realized he was wanted for escaping from a Missouri jail. A woman claiming to have been kidnapped by Davis called police from the Choctaw Travel Plaza Wednesday morning claiming that she had been held by gunpoint and forced to drive Davis. She stated that she was able to escape when he had fallen asleep in the car.
Davis was placed in a Heavener patrol car but he managed to work his way into the driver's seat and drive away in the patrol car. Davis wrecked the car on Forest Hill Road off Highway 59 and fled on foot.
The alleged kidnapping victim has been identified as Christole Hurst and police are now considering her a suspect instead of victim. Hurst reportedly talked on the phone with Davis numerous times prior to his escape. After his escape she drove him through southern Missouri and helped him hide out.
Davis is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo of an eye inside of a triangle on the front of his neck along with several other tattoos.
Local authorities stated that there is a strong possibility that Davis left the area by train but they are still warning residents to be cautious and alert.
Davis is considered dangerous and should not be approached.
