Spiro Man Critical After Crash


A personal injury collision Sunday on U.S. Highway 59 in LeFlore County sent a Spiro man to the hospital.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported Julio Perez, 37, was transported by Leflore County EMS to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith then flown by Pafford EMS to UAMS in Little Rock. He was listed in critical condition with head and trunk internal injuries. 

The crash occurred at 1:42 a.m. The OHP reported Perez was driving a 1990 GMC pickup truck south on U.S. Highway 59 when he ran off the road to the right, traveled about 150 feet then over corrected and ran off the road to the left. The truck traveled about 200 feet then rolled one half time ejecting the driver about 50 feet.

The OHP reported the odor of alcohol was detected at the scene. Seat belts were not in use.
