Cruizin’ 64 Is Oct. 12 and 13

Look for the Sallisaw Main Street food truck on Oct. 12 and 13
if you're hungry for a delicious Indian taco.

The Sallisaw Main Street and Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce Annual Cruizin’ 64 Car Show and Blues Fest will be held Oct. 12 and 13 in downtown Sallisaw.

The fun begins on Oct. 11 when a carnival sets up at the library. The carnival will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Sallisaw Main Street food truck will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, offering for sale their delicious Indian tacos and other goodies.

Saturday, Oct.13, features the car show, chili cook off, pop-up shops, food vendors and more.

Car show registration will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, and the car does not have to be a classic. The show has 31 classes, and first and second place trophies will be awarded in each class. Awards will be presented at about 2:30 p.m.

Cars are welcome to join in the cruise night which follows the entertainment on Saturday evening.

Saturday’s Chili Cook off has 1- through 3-alarm categories, and cash prizes will be awarded in each category and for People’s Choice. There is no fee to enter. All-you-can-eat taster kits will go on sale for $7 at 11 a.m. Saturday, and includes a drink and all the fixins’.

The chili teams must provide four gallons of chili, and provide their own setup. To sign up for the Chili Cook off call 918-776-7920 or visit sallisawmainstreet.org.

Pop-up Shops will be on the library lawn, and owners should sign up with the chamber by calling the chamber at 918-775-2558 or by visiting the chamber website at sallisawchamber.com. Applications will be accepted through Oct. 11.

After all that fun, shopping and eating, visitors are invited to bring out their lawn chairs for an evening of musical entertainment at The Blues Fest. The Hi-Fi Hillbillies will kick off the evening at 6 p.m. followed by the Wanda Watson Band.

For more information about any of the events contact the chamber or Sallisaw Main Street.
