Sallisaw Man Injured in Early Morning Accident


A Sallisaw man was injured in a one-car crash at about 2:21 a.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 59 and Bell Road approximately 4.3 miles south of Stilwell in Adair County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported Benjamin M. Oberste, 24, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu southbound when he departed the roadway to the right for an unknown reason, hit a culvert and rolled the vehicle an unknown number of times.

The OHP reported Oberste was transported to Stilwell Hospital then flown to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville where he was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal and leg injuries.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation according to the OHP report. Seatbelts were in use.
